The article which appeared in the County Times of 19th April on TfW’s proposed timetable is very concerning.

TfW are suggesting that they are adapting to the needs of passengers when they are doing no such thing.

Their projected cuts and additions on the Cambrian line seem to ignore the needs those who still travel for the purposes of work and education as well as other residents of Wales who use the line.

OTHER NEWS:

TfW argue that their review is based on demand and growth trends; these have probably declined since travellers became disillusioned with rail travel as a result of the substandard service referred to by Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams not long ago and would be reversed if TfW greatly improved the reliability of their trains.

While there is no denying the importance of tourism to the region the projected alterations seem to be for the benefit of visitors and no one else.

It is extremely disappointing for all those living in Wales that the hourly service, for which local people have fought long and hard, will only run in the summer months.

TfW congratulate themselves on their efforts to reduce their subsidy when there should be far more investment in the railways not less.

It is easy to doubt the commitment of the British and Welsh governments to reversing Climate Change if they allow the railway to stop being a viable means of transport.

Are we heading for a repeat of the disastrous policies of the early 1960s?

If the railway matters readers need to respond urgently as the Review closes 13th May.  The Survey Feedback Form can be found on Home/Consultations/TfW Future Timetable Review
