No immediate changes will be made at an accident blackspot in Powys despite support from local politicians.

The Welsh Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Ken Skates has said there will be no immediate changes to the A458 near Middletown which has been the site of a number of serious accidents in the last 12 months including one that led to the death of a driver.

In a letter sent to Montgomeryshire MS, Russell George, Mr Skates said: “We target our funding for engineering measures where there is a history of collisions with a pattern which can be addressed.

“Whilst we don’t have any current plans for road safety improvements at this location, we will continue to review and await details of the most recent personal injury collsion data form the police to inform that decision.”

“Have received a reply from Minister which is very disappointing, I had hoped for a more positive response.
