AN urgent investigation has been launched after a soldier died at an army training camp in Powys.

The unnamed soldier passed away at Sennybridge Training Area, a Ministry of Defence military training area near Brecon, on Wednesday, September 20.

It is currently unknown how the soldier died and it is being investigated.

An Army spokesperson said: “It is with immense sadness that we can confirm the death of a soldier on 20th September 2023 at Sennybridge Training Area.

“Our thoughts are with the soldier’s family and friends at this difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.

“The circumstances surrounding this death will be investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.”

Sennybridge is the third largest military training area in the UK and was acquired by the War Office in 1939.
