A MONTGOMERYSHIRE man has admitted stalking and harassing two former partners, and will be sentenced next month.

Iwan Jones, from Llanfair Caereinion, had previously denied both offences, which related to former girlfriends. But the 34-year-old entered guilty pleas when they put to him at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, February 21.

One victim was phoned by the defendant 53 times in one day.

The offence took place in Llanfair on June 30, 2022, while on July 26 he sent her a request to follow her on Instagram. The overall period of that offence is said to have taken place between June 29 and July 27 last year.

The second victim Jones stalked during a four-month period last year, between January 13 and May 24, in Newtown, Welshpool and Llanfair.

The charge states Jones called her multiple times, attended both her home and work addresses and sent her messages electronically.

He had previously pleaded not guilty to the first charge in January this year, and to the second last October.

Rob Hanratty, acting for Jones, of Parc-yr-Onnen, said magistrates would require a report on his client.

“The charges relate to the harassment of two ladies he was previously in relationships with,” said Mr Hanratty.

County Times:

“He is already subject to a protection order and has taken courses in relation to the offences.”

Magistrates adjourned sentencing for a month and ordered a pre-sentence report, with Jones due back before the court on March 21.

They granted him conditional bail, which orders him not to make contact with the first victim.
