ONE child remains in hospital following a collision between a school bus and pupils in Llanfair Caereinon last month.

The incident occurred close to the town’s primary and high schools just as the school day was coming to a close on Monday, May 23. A bus collided with a number of pupils from Llanfair Caereinion Primary School.

The collision, which occurred around 3.25pm, resulted in five people being taken to hospital – including four pupils from the primary school, three of whom were airlifted, as well as the bus driver.

Jacqui Lovatt, Dyfed Powys Police Chief Inspector for north Powys, said today that one of the primary school pupils remains in hospital and is awaiting transfer to a hospital closer to home.

“One child continues to require medical care and has not yet returned home and is still in hospital,” said Chief Inspector Lovatt.

“Everyone else been discharged. I believe they are trying to sort a transfer so the child can be nearer home.”
