Fire crews from across Mid Wales rushed to the scene of a "serious" kitchen fire at a house near Newtown.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a report of a house fire in Adfa yesterday morning (Monday, October 30), with four different crews being alerted.

According to the fire service, crews were scrambled from Newtown, Welshpool, Montgomery and Llanfair Caereinion after a call was made at 10.39am that the owner of the house was dealing with a serious fire in their kitchen.

When crews arrived at the house they found that thankfully no one was hurt in the fire.

Firefighters also found that the owner of the property had managed to put out the blaze before crews appeared on the scene and had managed to isolate the electricity going into the room.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 10.39am on Monday, October 30, the Newtown, Welshpool, Montgomery and Llanfair Caereinion crews were called to an incident in Adfa, Newtown.

“Crews responded to a cooker fire which had already been extinguished on their arrival.  Crews carried out inspections and the property owner had isolated the electricity supply.  No further action was required by Fire and Rescue Service crew members.

“Crews left the scene at 11.25am.”
