A HOST of Powys athletes recorded top 20 finishes at the Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships in Brecon this week.
Maddie Griffiths of Welshpool claimed a bronze in the senior girls' race with a time of 16.20 with Newtown's Aled Breeze also claiming a senior boys' bronze with a time of 16.41.
Llanidloes' Maddie Hughes was fifth in the junior girls' race with a time of 11.20 while Olivia Morgan, also of Llanidloes, was 16th in a time of 12.14.
Griffiths led Powys interest in the senior girls' race with Llanfair Caereinion's Caitlyn Bloor 10th in 18.21 and Crickhowell's Efanna Hawking 19th in 19.30.

Welshpool's Jude White was fifth in the Year 7 boys race with a time of 8.01.
Breeze claimed a podium place in the senior boys' race with Llanfyllin's Deri McCluskey sixth in 16.59, just ahead of Calon Cymru's Tristan Cumberland in seventh with a time of 17.17 while Welshpool's Callum Morgan was 10th after 17.35.
Welshpool's MacKenzie McCourt was fourth in the middle girls' race with a time of 14.47 with Brecon's Ruby Herdman 16th after 15.41.
Llanfyllin's Matthew Benson was 11th in the middle boys' race with a time of 14.41 with Crickhowell's Toby Bennett 13th with a time of 14.59.
