England is poised to win this year’s tournament with odds of 2-1. India and Australia are trailing right behind with odds of 11-4 and 4-1 respectively. All eyes are on this tournament and it could end up becoming the most-watched sporting event this summer.

The World Cup follows a single round-robin format with group stages. All teams play nine group games and all matches are deemed important as they will count towards qualifying for the semi-finals.

England

As this year’s tournament is held in England, the English team have home advantage. One of the reasons why they are favourites to win is that they have a record of 29-4-1 at home and have won the last eight series. The team is on a hot streak and most seem to think that this will last! With more than 300 runs and a whopping 38 times since 2015, there is probably plenty of reasons to think this. Since the embarrassing result in the 2015 World Cup, England definitely have something to prove

Joe Root is one of the players to watch on the English team as he is one of the most consistent hitters in this World Cup, he could tip the scales even more in the team’s favour. He also knows that he needs to perform as there are other players on standby who can take his spot. Another player to look for is Adil Rashid who is one of the best bowlers in the cup, being able to spin the ball either way.

Australia

Australia is another clear favorite to win the World Cup in 2019. Not only did the team win the cup in 2015, the team also seems to play better when they are not the clear favorite to win. The defending team has some of the highest ranked players on their team and David Warner and Steve Smith are two players to look out for. They both recently had a ban lifted due to a recent tampering scandal.

India

The Indian cricket team is in great form and has won 65% of their matches since the last world cup in 2015. Virat Kohli is one of the best players in the tournament and with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan beside him; the Indian team could also be a favorite in this year’s world cup. The balance between batting and bowling is also a clear advantage that the Indian team has, that no other team can sport.
