A UNIQUE outdoor nursery, one of the few of its kind in Wales, is relocating in Radnorshire.

For the past three years Create Play have delivered unique, nature-based childcare in Howey, near Llandrindod Wells. Following a successful application to Care Inspectorate Wales the nursery will now be moving to a new site in the centre of Llandrindod, with sessions at the new site beginning on Wednesday, June 30.

Create Play was created as Ashfield Outdoor Nursery in 2017 and was one of the first outdoor nurseries to open in Wales. The organisation follows a growing trend to provide childcare which connects children to the natural world. The play centred provision provides childcare to children aged from two to six, and does so all year round, which means some challenging types of weather in Mid Wales.

Alongside the nursery site, plans are afoot to build a small woodland hub, where individuals and groups will be able to access a range of events and training. The nursery will reopen under its new name Create Play Outdoor Nursery on June 30, with applications to register still available to local parents.

Ben Webb, director of Create Play, said: “Ashfield has been a wonderful home for us, but we are always keen to ensure that we deliver the best service possible.

“Our new site is really exciting, we've gone bigger and better than before, the site it's much larger, with a much more varied landscape, it has a small woodland and a stream running next to it. We'll also be in the centre of town, making us much easier to access.”

The new site is situated next to the rugby club in Llandrindod on Cefnllys Lane and the nursery will be open Wednesday to Friday from 8.30am-5.30pm.

“Though our name will be changing to Create Play Outdoor Nursery the service will remain the same; nature-based play centred childcare for two-six-year-olds,” added Ben.

“We are still taking applications for the summer holidays and registration for September.

“We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible.

“Get in touch or come and have look at the amazing wood carvings by Bryn and Kaspian Askham.”
