TRAIN services in Powys have been cancelled this morning (July 9), due to what Transport for Wales (TfW) describes as an “operational incident”.
The incident is affecting travel between Llandrindod Wells and Llandovery, with the service unlikely to be back running until 1pm.
TfW revealed the news via Twitter/X shortly before 10am.
“Due to an operational incident between Llandovery and Llandrindod, services will be cancelled in both directions,” said TfW.
“Disruption to services is expected until 1pm.”

More information for commuters was provided on the TfW website, with a statement reading: “Services will be cancelled in both directions between Llandovery and Llandrindod.
“We expect the incident to last until 12pm and disruption to services is expected from 9.20am until 1pm.
“We have been made aware of an operational incident. We'll publish more information here shortly. We apologise for the disruption caused to your journey.
“Check services running in the area using the Transport for Wales live map.”
Alternative Travel Options
“We have limited road transport at Carmarthen currently on route who will run between Llandovery and Llandrindod provided by Glyns, to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost,” said TfW.
“If you wish to travel onwards from Llandrindod towards Shrewsbury, we have AC Jenkins to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost.
“We also have limited road transport at Llandrindod who will run between Shrewsbury and Llandovery provided by AC Jenkins and Gower, to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost.”
Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Allow extra time to complete your journey.
