A NEWTOWN couple whose drug use led them to committing a plethora of thefts from supermarkets and shops over a 3-month period will be sentenced next month.
Connor Evans, 28, and Tyler Jefferies, 26, appeared in the dock together at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 30, where they admitted a total of 20 offences between them – all related to thefts from shops in Newtown, Welshpool and Llanidloes.
Evans admitted 12 separate offences, while Jefferies pleaded guilty to all eight charges put to her.

The thefts took place at Tesco, Lidl, Iceland, Aldi, Charlies and Spar between March and June.
Prosecutor Helen Tench said that criminal behaviour orders will be applied for in relation to both defendants, of Penyparc Flats, Lon Derw, Newtown, when they are sentenced.
Rob Hanratty, defending the duo, said the thefts were “indicative of their chaotic lifestyle”.
“They were stealing to fund their drug use,” he said.
“Ms Jefferies, in particular, suffers with mental health issues, which are very worrying and concerning indeed.
“Connor is already the subject of an (court) order and Tyler is hyperactive and probably hasn’t been diagnosed with something yet. I would ask for an adjournment for a full report.”
Magistrates adjourned sentencing until July 21 and ordered full pre-sentence reports.
