A TRACTOR driver travelling home at 8 miles per hour has lost his driving licence, after he was pulled over for drink driving.
Robert Davies, 46, had been attending a tractor event on April 7, after which he had consumed a few alcoholic beverages, along with some food.
He believed he was alright to drive, but when officers pulled him over driving a vintage 1950s blue and orange Fordson tractor around 200 yards from his house, he was found to be over the drink drive limit.
Davies, of Nantiago, Llanfair Waterdine, near Knighton, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 16.

“Police were called by a member of the public who was concerned a man was driving his tractor home while under the influence, after leaving a pub in Knighton,” said prosecutor Victoria Vasey.
“Police attended, they came across a very slow tractor, driving at about 8mph. The defendant was fully compliant with a roadside breath test.
“His last conviction was in 2011, which was for drink driving.”
Davies provided a reading of 60 micrograms of alcohol in his breath – the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Gurleen Kaur, acting for Davies, said he was remorseful.
“He had been at a tractor event then, following a few drinks and food, he thought he was under the limit, which he was not.
“Police pulled him over about 200 yards from his house. He was driving a vintage 1950s tractor with a top speed of 15mph, and was driving at approximately 8mph.
“It was three to four-mile drive home, which took him 30 minutes. As a result of this, there is a chance he could lose his job.”
Magistrates disqualified Davies for 17 months; he can reduce this by completing a drink drive rehabilitation course. He was also fined £230 and told to pay a £92 surcharge and £85 costs.
