A POWYS man will appear in court next month, to answer nine charges relating to causing unnecessary suffering to animals at his farm.
Gareth Wyn Jones, 62, faces nine charges in total, including failing to dispose of a dead bull carcass at his farm, near Pontrobert.
It is alleged that, overall, more than 80 cattle were caused unnecessary suffering by Jones.
The offences were said to have occurred between June 25 and July 22, 2025.
Jones appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 14, but was informed the case could not proceed.

It is said the defendant failed to house many of his cattle in a suitable environment.
One charge states that Jones failed to seek veterinary advice or administer treatment to a severely lame bull, without undue delay.
Another charge states the needs of five pens of housed calves, between the ages of 1 and 4 months, were not met by Jones, in that no water was provided for them during hot weather; while no dry-lying was provided for another 32 cattle.
Another offence relates to two underweight calves who were not provided with suitable nutrition or care; while the ninth charge states Jones failed to comply with an animal by-product requirement, by failing to dispose of a bull carcass.
Gareth Walters, acting for Jones, of The Chalet, Greenhill, Pontrobert, said: “There are nine offences in relation to numerous cattle.
“I have not had time this morning to advise Mr Jones properly so, to make sure he is best served, I am making an application to adjourn proceedings.”
Magistrates adjourned the case and told Jones to return to court on May 5. He was granted unconditional bail until that date.
