A ROAD buried under 2,000 tonnes of loose debris and trees will have to remain closed after being hit by a landslip.
Storm Pierrick caused a landslide on the A4067 between Ystradgynlais and Crai in south Powys earlier this week. The A4067 will be closed from the Caerbont roundabout and the C0200 Hoel Giedd junction on the Ystradgynlais bypass while the council clears the area to make it passable and safe.
In an update provided on Friday, Powys County Council's Highways, Transport and Recycling Service said the road remains closed due to the landslide.
“More than 40 unsafe trees and over 2,000 tonnes of loose debris are being removed before the bank can be fully stabilised and the area deemed safe from further collapse,” said the local authority on its Facebook page.
“Work will continue over the weekend with the aim of getting the road reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
“Local diversions remain in place.”
MP for Brecon and Radnorshire Fay Jones warned drivers to “take care” in the area around Crai, near Brecon.
