TWO cars were involved in a road traffic collision that closed a road near Newtown on Friday night.

Dyfed Powys Police tweeted just before 7pm on March 8 that the B4389 between New Mills and Tregynon, just outside Newtown, was closed due to the crash.

The crash involved a blue Mazda and a white Ford Fiesta, with the Welsh Ambulance Service attending, although it is now known how many occupants were involved or if any casualties were taken to hospital.

“Dyfed Powys Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4389 between New Mills and Tregynon, at around 5.20pm on Friday, March 8,” said the force in a statement.

“The road was closed while both vehicles were recovered.”

Police confirmed that an ambulance attended but it is not clear if the persons were taken to hospital.

The road was closed all night, with posters on the North Powys Community Travel Alerts Facebook page saying it remained shut at 11pm.

One user said that the road had reopened by 7.30am on Saturday morning.

The Welsh Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
