A MAJOR Powys road will be entirely closed for 11 nights from tonight due to “essential” repair work that needs to be carried out.

The A483 at Cilmery, just outside Builth Wells, will be closed from tonight (March 4) until Friday, March 15, between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

The A483 connects Powys to south and west Wales and anyone looking to get to Llandovery and beyond will now have to divert via Brecon, with Traffic Wales putting a diversion in place.

“Essential repair work (is) taking place overnight on the A483 from Llanfechan Bungalow to Rhedyn Cottage, Cilmery, for 11 nights,” Traffic Wales said on its website.

“There will be a closure in both directions starting on March 4; the works will be carried out overnight between 7pm-7am.

“The works are being carried out overnight when traffic flows are lower to minimise disruption.”
