A popular historic Powys hotel and restaurant is now under new management.

The Dragon Hotel in Montgomery is now under new management that has been brought in by Plumtree hotels who run a chain of luxury hotels across the UK. The County Times has sought clarification over whether the group has bought the hotel outright.

The new management team of Ken Holden, Andrew Ranger and Angeles Hererro have said they are “very keen to ensure that the Dragon remains as much a part of the community of Montgomery as it has always been”.

The added that their vision for the hotel is "for it to become the very best version of itself. They want to engage with businesses, community organisations and events to offer any help and support they can.

The Grade II listed Hotel which was originally built in the 17th Century and has been on the market several times in recent years.

However the new management team are looking to bring some stability to the iconic venue and help it thrive.

The three have many collective years of experience in hotels and hospitality and “are very much looking to bring this knowledge together in order to build a solid, long-term future for the town’s beloved Dragon”.

They are also looking to become a part of the local community and building up relationships throughout Montgomery.
