Multiple schools have been closed across Powys and buses cancelled - but an amber weather warning for snow turned out to be a washout for parents on the morning school run.
Half a dozen schools in the north of Powys have their doors closed today (February 8) despite a lack of snow overnight. The Met Office is warning conditions are set to get worse over the day.
As well as the closures around Welshpool, Llanfyllin, and Llanfair Caereinion, Newtown College has decided to work remotely today.

Many decided to close on Wednesday evening after Powys Council moved to cancel school bus services in the north of the county due to the expected bad weather.
As it turned out, there was little to no snow to be seen as parents woke up to what would have been their school run.
A spokesperson for Powys County Council said: “Our priority is to ensure that learners are kept safe while they use school transport.
“The decision not to provide school transport was not taken lightly but it was based on the weather forecasts that the council receives and took into account the amber warning for snow and ice that is still in place until 3pm today.
“The decision to close a school due to adverse weather would be down to individual schools.”
Forecasters predicted as much as 15cm of snow in some areas with the Met office issuing an amber weather warning for the north of Powys with a yellow warning for snow being issued for south of Montgomeryshire.
