Shops in Newtown are already getting into the Christmas spirit after unveiling their festive window displays ready to welcome shoppers in.

Businesses have been gearing up for the annual Christmas window competition organised by Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, which garnered an “overwhelming” response from more than 30 shops taking part.

The British Red Cross, in Shortbridge Street, has already been named this year’s 'Mayor's Choice' for the “outstanding” charity shop display which the council said “captured the festive spirit with such creativity”.

Wales’ best nail salon Nail Envy, situated on Market Street, earned the well-deserved runner-up title for their impressive contribution.
