POWYS MP Fay Jones has shared an image from her wedding after she got married at the weekend.

Ms Jones, the MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, married husband Tim Poole, who serves in the British Army, in a ceremony at Brecon Cathedral on Saturday, November 4.

The 38-year-old posted an image on her Twitter and Instagram pages, captioned: “Reader, I married him. (Have waited decades to use that line).

“Best day ever. Biggest of thank yous to everyone who made it so.”

The couple, who are believed to live near Crickhowell, tied the knot at a ceremony in her constituency, with details of their special day appearing on a registry website, where they asked guests to join them on “our epic journey”.

Ms Jones posted a picture of the happy couple being showered by confetti leaving a church following the ceremony.

The post received lots of congratulatory messages from political colleagues, including local Powys politicians, as well as many opposition councillors and MPs.

Councillor Aled Davies, the Welsh Conservatives leader on Powys County Council (PCC), said: “He’s a very lucky man! Have a wonderful life together, best wishes.”

Councillors Pete Roberts and Gareth Ratcliffe, both Liberal Democrat members on PCC, added messages of support. Llandrindod member Cllr Roberts, a member of the council’s cabinet, said: “Congratulations, I hope the day went well and is followed by many more happy ones together.”

Cllr Ratcliffe added: “Congratulations, Fay. Hope you had an amazing day.”

Matthew Dorrance, another cabinet member, who represents Brecon for Labour, said: “Congratulations to you both. Wishing you all the best.”

Ms Jones received well-wishes from Tory colleagues across the UK, including MPs Steve Baker and Mark Jenkinson and MS Gareth Davies, as well as Cllr Aled Thomas.

There were plenty of warm messages from Labour members too, including Carolyn Harris, deputy leader of Welsh Labour, who said: “So very happy for you.”

Pontypridd MP Anna McMorrin said: “Congratulations both. Fay you look stunning”, while Cardiff North MP Alex Davies-Jones added: “Congratulations both you look beautiful Fay.”

Ms Jones has represented the Brecon and Radnor seat for the Conservatives since 2019. From Cardiff, she is the daughter of Gwilym Jones, a former Tory MP for Cardiff North.

After replacing Lib Dem leader Jane Dodds as the Brecon and Radnorshire MP in the 2019 general election, she endorsed Rishi Sunak during the July-September 2022 Conservative party leadership election.

Last year she was appointed as an assistant government whip by Mr Sunak after he became Prime Minister.
