THE funeral of a former Llandrindod Wells mayor will take place in south Wales next week.
Llandrindod Wells Town Council announced that the funeral of Sheila Richards is being held at Wenallt Chapel, in Thornhill, Cardiff, at 1.15pm on Monday, November 6.
The town council announced the sad news of Sheila’s death on October 19, paying tribute to a long-serving town councillor and popular figure who had immersed herself in various community activities throughout her life.
She was heavily involved with the running of the Victorian Festival over the years, as well as being an active member of Tremont WI. She was also a big supporter of the arts, including the Albert Hall theatre, and she also donated, supported and gave her time to many local organisations.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of former mayor and long-term town councillor Sheila Richards,” Llandrindod Wells Town Council said in a tribute to Mrs Richards on their Facebook page.
“Sheila served as a member of the town council for many years and had the honour of being mayor in 2001/2. She was an extremely active member of the town council and also within many local groups and activities.
