WINTER seems to be on its way, but the arrival of everyone’s favourite weatherman will certainly provide a bright spot for residents of a Powys town later this week.

Meteorologist Derek Brockway has become a firm favourite on Welsh television screens since joining the BBC in the mid-90s, and he is forecasted to make an appearance in Llandrindod Wells on Thursday, October 19.

From his many TV and radio appearances, Derek has become a beloved Welsh icon and his series Weatherman Walking is now in its 13th season, even spawning a book in 2021. The weather forecaster has previously taken part in the crazy World Bog Snorkelling Championships which are held in Llanwrtyd Wells.

In the latest series he took a stroll in the Elan Valley and this week there will be a “very special announcement” when he visits the spa town.

Llandrindod Wells Town Council announced on Facebook that Derek will be at Llandrindod’s bandstand from 2.30-4pm on Thursday.
