Motorists were asked to avoid a section of the Newtown bypass on the weekend following an incident.
Dyfed-Powys Police tweeted just before 6pm on Sunday (August 27) that emergency services are on the scene and dealing with “an incident”.
Witnesses said the A483 is shut from the Kerry roundabout towards Caersws, but the Welshpool side is clear.
“Emergency services are dealing with an incident on the A483 Newtown bypass,” said police.
“Please avoid the area and find alternative routes for your journey.”
The road was later reopened and Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that the road was closed due to concerns for an individual in the area.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on the A483 Newtown bypass at 4.45pm.
"Officers attended and the matter was brought to a close by 6.25pm."
