ONE person had to be cut free by firefighters after getting trapped following a four-car road traffic collision in Powys today (August 17).

The accident occurred on the A44 at Llandegley, near Llandrindod Wells, at around 10.34am, resulting in fire crews using hydraulic cutting equipment to free one casualty.

“At 10.34am on Thursday, August 17, the Llandrindod Wells crew was called to an incident along the A44 near Llandegley,” said the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service in a statement.

“A road traffic collision involving one private motor vehicle, one light van, one 4x4 vehicle and one motorcycle had occurred.

 

“One casualty was trapped underneath one of the vehicles, the crew released the casualty by utilising hydraulic cutting equipment and spreaders. The crew also provided assistance to the Air Ambulance crew who were in attendance.”

Dyfed-Powys Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service were also on the schene.

The Llandrindod crew left at the scene at 11.33am.

The A44 remains closed between Penybont and the Forrest Inn, at Llanfihangel-nant-Melan.

A police spokesperson said: “The A44 between Penybont and Forrest Inn is currently closed due to a collision.

“If possible, please avoid the area and find an alternative route.”
