MEMBERS of Llandrindod Circle Dance Friends celebrated World Circle Dance Day 2023 in the spa town on Sunday, July 9.

The 40-strong group hosted an event in Temple Gardens, enjoying a picnic and a day of celebration from 11am until 4pm.

They are thought to be the only group in Wales to sign up for World Circle Dance Day, among about 250 clubs or groups around the world who were taking part in the global celebration.

OTHER NEWS:

“Our circle is open to all,” said group spokesperson Plaxy Muetzel, who says she has been leading circle dance for over 20 years, and started hosting get-togethers on her small farm last summer, inviting friends to bring food and other folk, to share what people had all been missing after all the doom and gloom of the pandemic.

County Times:

“People came from all over, including other countries, but, significantly, a whole bunch from around Llandrindod found each other.

“Since then we have met fortnightly, plus, approximately 6-weekly, for a whole Saturday, to recreate the bring-and-sharing of last summer, and to continue the bonding and support which naturally follows through having more time to dance and chatter and laugh.

“Please get in touch for details via george.francis@gmx.com. If you have trouble joining us or joining in, we will find a way to bring you along, or to come to you, and to make the music and dances accessible for your enjoyment in some way.”
