An award-winning holiday park in Powys, which has recently been granted planning permission to expand, celebrated Wales Tourism Week with a visit from the local MP.

Rockbridge Country Holiday Park, near Presteigne, welcomed Brecon and Radnorshire MP Fay Jones to the site on Friday, May 19, to share in the news of the exciting new development, which will see 21 new holiday lodges being built.

The park is ideally placed on the Powys-Herefordshire border, drawing holidaymakers into Powys and through the ‘Gateway to Wales’.

It is located on the B4356 between Presteigne and Discoed, with the exciting new development promising to bring both jobs and investment to the Mid Wales area.

“Tourism is one of the key industries that drives this part of Radnorshire on the Herefordshire borders,” said Ms Jones, who visited the park to learn all about the new development and its impact on the local community both sides of the border.

“We're so lucky that we get visitors from all over the world coming to see us. We have stunning countryside and amazing food, and lovely people.”

Planning for the 21 new lodges has been granted on the park, which is set in stunning Welsh landscape beneath the famous Offa’s Dyke Path that divides Wales from England.

Managing director Glenn Jones says it’s a huge investment for the company which will benefit the local economy and bring more jobs to the area.

“We already employ over 50 people on our sites in north Herefordshire and are well known and respected for boosting the county’s economy,” he said.

“By the end of 2023 Discover Parks hope to have completed this new venture that has been in the pipeline for some time. We were very excited that our local MP Fay Jones came to see us and she was suitably impressed with our future plans.”
