Llanfyllin’s Workhouse Gallery was packed to the rafters for the launch of a major collaboration between poets, visual artists and musicians.
Throughout the winter months, a number of painters, sculptors, potters, musicians, photographers and writers were collaborating on a project called Cydweithio, which was unveiled at Llanfyllin’s Workhouse on March 24.
A large crowd gathered to see the results of a project which saw poets and artists who were invited to pair off and work together to fire the creative process.
The project was first devised in November 2022, with the results finally revealed to the public, who were treated to poetry readings and music as well as individual accounts of the collaborative process.

Cydweithio was the idea of Montgomery-based poet Jen Hawkins who, together with poet Geraint Jones, assembled a team of participants.
Ms Hawkins said: “We are delighted with the way the idea has come to fruition.
“The range and quality of the art and writing that has been produced is exceptional. We are very grateful to everyone who took part for entering into the spirit of the challenge so wholeheartedly.
“Those involved were free to collaborate in any way they saw fit. Some were inspired by the other’s work, while others met for dinner or went walking together. It really was up to them.”
Some of the artistic pairings included Pat Evans with portrait artist Dan Llewellyn Hall, Cordelia Weedon with poet Chris Kinsey, whose first two poetry collections were published by Ragged Raven Press, won Natur Cymru’s Inspired by Nature competition, wrote a regular Nature Diary for Cambria, was BBC Wildlife Poet of the Year and Oriel Davies’ Writer in Residence.
Bob Guy is an artist, illustrator and printmaker who specialises in wood engraving was partnered with the project organiser Jen Hawkins, while award winning poet Liz Lefroy was partnered with John Eddy.
The wide variety of artistic pairings resulted in a wide array of works, while those attending the unveiling got a chance to meet some of the artists involved with the project.
Cydweithio will run at the Workhouse Gallery in Llanfyllin, where all the works will be on display until April 29.
The Gallery is open seven days a week from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
