THEY’RE usually pounding the pavements in lycra and headtorches but members of Builth & District Running Club swapped all that for frocks and bow ties earlier this month as they put their feet up and enjoyed a few drinks.

Around 100 members attended an excellent evening of entertainment held at the Strand Hall in Builth on Saturday, March 11, as the club celebrated its fourth annual awards ceremony and dinner.

There were 9 main awards presented on the evening, with new Welsh international Sophie Cook taking home two of them.

Cook, who could not attend the event as she was competing at the Masters 10K International in Chester the following day, won the coveted Runners Runner award (voted for by fellow club members), as well as Most Improved Female.

The club would like to thank Josie for her motivational talk on her career and beyond, as well as Fingers & Forks for the excellent food and service, Penmaenau Bars, Distant Relations for the entertainment and Jamie Bufton for being sound engineer, Luke Dewinton, Kate Jones for a lot of behind the scenes work, as well as master of ceremonies Avril Hardwick and her little sidekick Haydn O’Reilly.
