LLANDRINDOD Carnival supporters were fittingly treated to an evening of terrific musical entertainment to celebrate St David’s Day earlier this month.

Rhayader and District Male Voice Choir were supported by the Cefnllys School Choir, Cerys Gough and other soloists from the Llandrindod campus of Ysgol Calon Cymru, and a harpist from Ysgol Trefonnen on Saturday, March 4.

It was a rousing evening, held at Llandrindod’s Royal British Legion club, with some powerful singing from the choir and from the schools, providing a wonderful evening of variety; talented singers, a harpist, a pianist and a cornetist.

The evening was smoothed over by Phil Gayther, the new Rhayader MVC chairman, who performed admirably as the compere.

A spokesperson for the carnival committee said: “We were completely blown away by the support shown at our Saint David’s Day concert.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for attending and supporting our carnival fundraiser.

“A big thank you to Rhayader Male Voice Choir and our local performers; I think you’d all agree we have some amazing talent in the town.

“We were so lucky to have a number of local businesses and individuals who kindly donated some excellent raffle prizes on the night.”

The committee would like to thank the businesses and individuals that contributed to the evening, including Marches, Arvon Ales, Lakeside Cafe & Catering, Lakeside Boathouse, Laura Jane fitness, Mid Wales Bouncy Castles & Soft Play Hire LTD, Drizzles, B Smith Carpentry, Gigi's Personalised Gifts & Keepsakes, Nails By Sidoni, Wool&Twist, Ian Lewis Blinds, A E Gough and Sons, Van's Good Food Shop, Mummy Bakes, FP Fragrances, Sarah Mason, Elevate studio and many more individuals.

Llandrindod Carnival is taking place this year on Saturday, July 1, and the committee are urging people to get involved, especially if you want a stall on the day or to enter a float.

On the carnival Facebook page, organisers said: “Want to advertise your business, raise some money or earn some money, then why not have a stall at the Llandrindod Wells Carnival?

“Please let us know if you are interested and we will book you a spot. There is no charge, but we do ask for a donation towards the event. Please share with you friends and groups.”

In a separate post, they added: “Why not have a float in this year’s Llandrindod Carnival and get your name out there to the whole town.

“This year's carnival will be held on July 1. If you need any help or advice about getting a trailer or flatbed, then please send a message to the carnival Facebook page and we will be more than happy to assist you.”
