February is here, the winter chill has begun to wear off meaning it’s a great time to get out and about again.

So we have put a little list of the best places to enjoy for those wanting to enjoy the warming weather.

Pistyll Rhaeadr

The county’s famous waterfall are a great day out for those wanting to enjoy an easy going day out. The falls are a peaceful spot of natural beauty that are a real joy even amongst the spectacular options in the County.

The trail to the falls is very easy going and is a suitable for walkers of all abilities.

Montgomery Canal

If you set off from Welshpool you will be rewarded as you travel along the Montgomery Canal towpath, with a wonderful variety of wildlife.

The full walk south will take you to Newtown, 15 miles away. But for those wanting to not go quite as far you can take a detour to check out Powis Castle and the deer park for a shorter but more varied walk.

Pen y Fan

This is definitely for the more adventurous. Pen y Fan is the tallest mountain in southern Britain at a height of 886 metres.

Luckily there are paths that can be used for novices and kids in good weather (although some tough comfortable shoes may be needed).

The route to the Iron Age cairn at the summit is to follow the trail up from Storey Arms . If you are an experienced walker you can instead follow the route up the northern side, or give the neighbouring  peaks a try like Corn Du and Cribyn.

Llyn Clywedog

The beautiful resevoir near Llanidloes is a great walk for people of all abilities. 

A trail near the Lake is a great one for people of all abilities and has a trail that is great for a family day out. 

The area is a haven for local wildlife with a number of rare species. It is also a great spot for bird watchers with  Buzzards and Red Kite a common sight, and there have even been sightings of Ospreys.
