THE family of a Powys man found dead in a field last month have paid tribute to him, describing him as a “kind and carefree soul”.

Aaron Luke Davies’ body was found on farmland near Penybont Monday, January 23. The death of the 31-year-old, from Llandrindod Wells, is being treated as unexplained by Dyfed Powys Police.

The family of Aaron – who represented Wales at karate – have paid tribute to a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin.

“We as a family are absolutely devastated by our loss,” the family said, in a statement released by police.

“Aaron Luke Davies, 31, from Llandrindod Wells, was known and loved by many in the town and surrounding areas, where he lived all of his life.

“He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin, who will leave a huge hole in everyone's lives that knew him.

“He was a kind and carefree soul, and a keen martial artist. Having trained in many styles, he achieved a black belt in karate at a young age and represented Wales in national karate championships.

“Martial arts were more than a hobby for Aaron, it was a lifetime of diligent study and something that he was very passionate about, it meant everything to him.  

“He especially loved the outdoors, hiking for miles and exploring new places, where he was at his happiest.

The family have asked that their privacy is now respected at this difficult time.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Aaron’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

The body is reported locally to have been found on a hill between Penybont and Cefnllys, near Cwmbrith Farm.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have any information about Aaron and may have seen him between January 16 and 23 to come forward.
