BURGER lovers in Powys are in for a treat this week as the Beefy Boys are returning to the area to tickle your taste buds.

The lads are back at one of their favourite Powys haunts on Friday (February 10), serving from 4pm until late at Llanfihangel Rhydithon Community Primary School in Dolau, near Llandrindod Wells.

“We always bring a million burgers with us but arrive early to avoid disappointment as we do sell out on occasion,” the Beefy Boys said in a post on Facebook.

“If you know any of your pals that live nearby who are keen for some world class burgers then give them a cheeky tag. See you there.”

The Beefy Boys have hugely altered the Powys/Herefordshire burger and eating out landscape since storming onto the scene a little over a decade ago, with their flagship Hereford restaurant opening in 2016 and attracting swarms of Powys punters every week.

The company was set up in 2011 by friends Anthony Murphy, Daniel Mayo-Evans, Christian Williams and Lee Symonds, amateur cooks who shared a passion for local produce and American-style burgers and BBQ.

The quartet entered the UK’s biggest BBQ competition, Grillstock, in Bristol, in 2014, where they won the coveted title of ‘Best Burger’.

From there, the competition, much like their burgers today, was devoured. They were awarded second place at the World’s Best Burger competition at the World Food Championship in Las Vegas a year later, where they competed against 50 of the best burger chefs in the world – with their ‘Butty Bach Burger’ catching the attention of judges.

OTHER NEWS:

The lads used their winnings in Vegas to open their first restaurant, the Beefy Boys Meat Boutique, in Hereford, in 2016. Their second restaurant opened in Shrewsbury in August 2021 and in recent days they’ve opened another flipping venue in Cheltenham too.

They also have their signature food van, which regularly visits special events and locations and has been seen many times in Powys over the last few years.
