A ROAD traffic collision near Builth Wells at the weekend involved a woman being struck by a bus – but police have confirmed that it was not a fatality.

Station Road in Llanelwedd, just outside Builth, was closed for several hours following the incident, which happened on Saturday evening, January 28.

There had been concerns locally that the collision had resulted in a fatality, but police revealed the female struck by the bus has since been discharged from hospital.

“We were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Station Road, Builth Wells, at around 7.20pm on Saturday, January 28,” police said in a statement.

“A woman was taken to hospital.”

A further statement from police revealed: “The female was conveyed to hospital and has since been discharged. Her injuries are no longer considered life threatening or life-changing.”

The collision occurred on a busy stretch of road where the A483 and A470 meet. Police said Station Road was shut in both directions, with Traffic Wales confirming it had reopened around 12.40am the following morning.

Emergency services were sent to the incident, which happened between the Royal Welsh Showground roundabout and Co-op petrol station, near Burger King.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
