A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of an 87-year-old Powys woman.
Dyfed Powys Police said they were called to an address in Llanfrynach, near Brecon, at 9.25pm on Friday, August 26, where a woman was airlifted to hospital – she was pronounced dead on Saturday. A man, aged 57, was arrested at the scene.
“Dyfed-Powys Police has launched a murder investigation near Brecon following the death of an 87-year-old woman,” the force said in a statement.
“Officers were called to a property in the Llanfrynach area at around 9.25pm on Friday, August 26. The woman was airlifted to hospital but sadly died earlier today (Saturday).
“Next of kin has been informed and the family is being supported by specialist officers. A 57-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He remains in police custody.”
