A ROUTINE traffic stop by police in Powys led to two men being charged with stealing a caravan from an elderly lady.
Frank Nelson Miley, 24, and Michael Gwynne Warner, 33, were stopped by Dyfed Powys Police officers in south Powys on Sunday, June 19, for towing a caravan without a number plate.
They were arrested and charged with theft, and had been due to appear at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 20.
Dyfed Powys Police Chief Inspector Jacqui Lovatt said: “It was the early hours of Sunday, June 19, when officers conducted a stop check.
“The two men were stopped towing a caravan along the A40 at Glangrwyney, near Crickhowell. The caravan had no number plate.
“It transpired that the caravan had been stolen from an elderly woman who had no knowledge it had been stolen.
“They were charged with theft and were due to appear in Merthyr on June 20.”
