POWYS residents are gearing up for the return of one of the region’s most popular sporting events, which returns next week after a two-year hiatus.

The annual Welsh Two Day Enduro is returning to Llandrindod Wells next week, being held on Thursday and Friday, June 23 and 24.

It’s sure to be a popular return for the event, which was forced to postpone the last two years due to Covid-19, having last been held in 2019.

Organisers confirmed in January 2021 that last year’s event could not go ahead due to the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic and lockdown restrictions.

The event attracts hundreds of riders and fans from across Europe to the Spa town and is one of the highlights of the British enduro calendar. Its cancellation in 2021, its 70th year, was a body blow for organisers as well as local tourism.

Signing on for this year’s event will take place on Wednesday, June 22, from 10am-5pm at the Lakeside, Llandrindod.

On the Friday evening after the event there will be a presentation of awards at the Metropole Hotel, starting at around 9pm.
