A 67-year-old Powys motorist has been banned from the road for 15 months after he was caught drink driving.

Kevin Mark Grubb provided a reading of 50 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was pulled over by police in Crickhowell on Wednesday, May 27 – the legal drink drive limit is 35 micrograms. He was stopped driving a Range Rover on the A40.

Grubb, of Glan Aber, Glangrwyney, near Crickhowell, admitted the offence when appearing at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 13.

Grubb was disqualified for 15 months but can reduce this by 25 per cent if he completes a drink drive awareness course. He was also fined £120 and must pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.
