A SINGLE vehicle road collision closed a major road through Powys for several hours yesterday (Wednesday, April 20).
The A470 between Rhayader and Llangurig was closed in both directions following the incident, which occurred at about 6.10pm. Traffic Wales said the crash was believed to have occurred near the Gilfach Nature Reserve, where the River Wye meets the Afon Marteg.
“We were called to a single vehicle collision on the A470 Rhayader to Llangurig at around 6.10pm on Wednesday, April 20,” said Dyfed Powys Police in a statement.
“The road was closed to allow recovery of the car, which had been blocking the carriageway.”
Traffic Wales said local diversions had been put in place, with the road believed to be back open at around 11pm.
