LLANDRINDOD Wells is planning a mammoth street party later this year to celebrate 70 the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Fuelled by Cake, the pop-up events team, has teamed up with Llandrindod Town Council to bring residents a huge street party in Middleton Street to celebrate the Queen’s 70-year reign.

The party will take place on Thursday, June 2, starting with a fancy dress procession through the town followed by a picnic lunch and a variety of events and activities for all ages throughout the afternoon.

The event will be part of the Big Jubilee Lunch with communities across the UK coming together as part of the official celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

More details – including how to get hold of your free tickets – will be available in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, if you would like to be involved in any way, perhaps by offering an activity or to help out on the day, you can contact the team via email on cakefuelled@gmail.com or via the Fuelled by Cake Facebook group.

Powys County Council last week invited communities throughout the county to apply for road closures, free of charge, to allow them to hold communal street parties in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Celebrations will be happening between June 2-5, with an extended bank holiday weekend providing the opportunities for communities to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.

During the four-day weekend, Powys people are being invited to run their own street parties and host a ‘Big Jubilee Lunch’ to reignite the great British community spirit and mark this momentous occasion.

To process applications for street parties and subsequent road closures in time, any individual or group who intend to hold a community event on a public highway need to let the council know by Sunday, March 27.

An application form and further information can be obtained by contacting the council's traffic section on email at traffic@powys.gov.uk.
