A DODGED £15 train fare has ended up costing a Powys man a whopping £350.
Jonathan Steadman, from Crickhowell, definitely did not have a ticket to ride when he boarded a train from Abergavenny to Cardiff on August 31 last year.
He failed to pay the £15 fare which resulted in a total financial penalty of £352 when his case came before Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 7.
Steadman, 40, pled guilty but was not at the hearing, where he was fined £124 and ordered to pay £179 costs, as well as a £34 surcharge. He also has to pay the original £15 fare as compensation.
