WITH life beginning to return to normal in recent weeks, people throughout Powys have been enjoying high times with family and friends – especially in Knighton.

These stunning pictures were taken by the drone of Knighton photographer Matt Keeling, who captured the border town from above earlier this month as the Knighton May Fair returned last week – with locals enjoying fairground rides and attractions, as well as refreshments.

“With lockdown restrictions lifting it was nice to see the May fair return to Knighton this year,” said Matt, a semi-professional photographer who had been asked by Knighton Town Council to cover Knighton Carnival last year, before it was unfortunately cancelled.

“From what I could see they handled social distancing well and had plenty of hand sanitiser dispensers around the site.

“It was great to see people out and about having fun again. Let’s hope this is the start of many more things easing safely back in to ‘normal’. I decided to take some aerial photographs of the fair with Knighton in the background and thought I would share them as it is a different view of the town from the air that not many people ever get to see.”

The footage was taken on Matt’s new DJI Mavic Air 2s drone and he added: “I kept well within the law, 150 metres away from people and not higher than 118 metres up in the air.

“I love covering local events and was approached last year to take some photos of the Knighton Carnival but sadly this was cancelled due to lockdown.”

Matt was also the official photographer when the Knife Angel visited Newtown.
