A KNIGHTON pub was broken into earlier this week, with thieves stealing the till and an unknown quantity of money.

The burglary happened at the George And Dragon Inn sometime overnight between Monday and Tuesday, May 17 and 18. As well as the till and money contained within it, police confirmed three bottles of spirits were also stolen.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the Broad Street boozer’s owners said: “As you may have already heard last night our pub got broken in to. I won't go in to too much detail but our till was stolen.

“If anyone has any information or knows anyone who may know something please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. There will be a reward if the information leads to an arrest. Also, the police do have CCTV but any info will still help.”

On Wednesday, they added: “We would just like to say a very big thank you to everyone for all of your support after yesterday's little glitch. It really is humbling to know so many of you care.

“Also, we are back open from 12pm for business as usual so please do pop in for food and/or drink.”

Dyfed Powys Police are investigating the theft, saying in their own statement: “Dyfed Powys Police is investigating a burglary which occurred at the George and Dragon Inn, Knighton, sometime overnight 17th/18 May, 2021.
