FIREFIGHTERS in Presteigne were called out to help rescue an elderly man who sustained “serious injuries” after falling into a river last week.
Presteigne Fire Station confirmed that a crew were mobilised, along with the Welsh Ambulance Service, to a special service call at around 3.45pm last Wednesday, April 21. “The crew assisted an elderly gentleman that had fallen in to a river and suffered serious injuries,” said a spokesperson.
“17P1 was joined by a Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service TAC Officer from Llandrindod Wells and a crew from the Welsh Ambulance Service.”
The Welsh Ambulance Service said in a statement: “We were called to the Herongate area of Presteigne at 2.19pm on Wednesday, April 21, to reports of a person with breathing difficulties.
“Colleagues from the fire service were also in attendance. We treated one person at the scene. No persons were conveyed to hospital.”
