BUILTH Wells’ Wyeside Arts Centre has described as a “lifeline” a grant of £65,000 bestowed upon it from the Arts Council of Wales.

Money from the council’s Cultural Recovery Fund will provide security to Wyeside until the end of the financial year in March. The funding will be put towards staffing and building costs, as well as providing a socially distanced programme for their audience.

Wyeside marketing officer Charlotte Spencer said: “The Wyeside would like to thank the Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales for this essential funding.

“This will allow us to reopen with a reduced schedule; to implement measures to protect our customers, staff and volunteers from COVID during events. This funding will also help to secure jobs for all our staff until the end of the financial year. This funding has truly been a lifeline.”

Wyeside hopes to be reopening soon, but this will be dependent on the current lockdown period ending and once the required safety precautions are in place.

Their new website will be ready in November at the same web address www.wyeside.co.uk and will have detailed current information available on their Covid-19 procedures in place.

Wyeside has also extended its gratitude for the support of their customers, volunteers and Friends of Wyeside during these difficult times. Wyeside’s team is committed to the centre’s future and its role within the community as a cultural hub.
