Firefighters from Llandrindod Wells tackled another "deliberate" grass fire yesterday afternoon in the Llanbister area, between Newtown and Llandrindod Wells.

The fire station said that attending this incident, in which three different emergency vehicles were called to just after 2pm, had taken "much needed resources" away from the frontline.

Fire Officer Craig Thomas, the Head of Operational Response for Powys Command at Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue, also Tweeted to highlight the issue.

He said: "Another afternoon another deliberate wildfire, this time with

Llandrindod Wells Fire Station on Llanbister Common. Really not needed at this time!"

Firefighters from across Mid Powys attended a grass fire which was believed to be deliberate near Builth Wells on Sunday, March 29.

On Easter Monday, firefighters in the area were called to a "deliberate" grass fire again; in Garth, near Builth Wells.
