A construction company has been nominated for two engineering awards for their work on projects in Machynlleth.
Griffiths Ltd, the company commissioned by the Welsh Government to construct the £46 million New Dyfi Bridge, have been nominated for a pair of Ground Engineering Awards 2024 for their work on two projects in the Powys town.
The first is an award for a UK project with a Geotechnical value of between £1m and £3m, the Dyfi Bridge while the second is for UK Geotechnical Team of the Year over their work on the Machynlleth Railway arch.
Work on the bridge was carried out over several years, being completed when the bridge was officially opened in February 2024.

In October 2023 Griffiths were commissioned by Powys County Council to reopen the masonry arch under the railway line, filling the archway with strengthening the structure with a reinforced concrete lining.
Writing on social media, a spokesperson for the company said: “We are proud to be nominated for the Ground Engineering Awards 2024 for our work on two projects.
“We are delighted for the Project teams and their accomplishments on these projects.”
