THE future of sport in Knighton is looking bright.
The town’s football club has teamed up with the border town’s rugby club and sports association to purchase new portable floodlights which will enable their sides to train and play throughout winter.
Meanwhile the club’s under nine’s have received new training tops courtesy of sponsorship from Nicky Tranter Tree Care.
The side compete in the North and Mid Powys League and have festivals every few weeks.
The team is popular with more than 20 players, comprising of both boys and girls.

Simon Harris and Brendan Branford have coached them this season with the players enjoying their sport and having fun.
Spokesperson Ellen Roberts said: “We have worked together with the towns junior rugby team and sports association and purchased some portable floodlights which enables them and other junior clubs to carry on training outside on the dark nights, so the kids don’t miss out.
“We would also like to thank Wayne Brindle who earlier in the season sponsored their football kits and purchased footballs and goals for the team.”
