Penrhyncoch 0 Denbigh Town 1

PENRHYNCOCH were cruelly denied a deserved point as Gareth Partridge snatched a late winner for Denbigh Town.

Penrhyn took the game to their visitors in the first-half with Cledan Davies firing over with a free-kick from the edge of the area before Steffan Davies headed wide.

However Denbigh weathered the early storm and came into the game as half wore on as the hosts were forced to defend and attack on the break.

Former Newtown captain Matty Cook pulled the strings in midfield but the Denbigh attack had little change from the home defence led by the veteran pairing of Jon Foligno and Sion James.

The second-half saw Denbigh impose themselves on the game with Kristian Pierce dancing his way into the area only to fire into the side netting before Corey Smart fired wide

Penrhyncoch remained a threat with Davies heading wide while also forcing goalkeeper Keighan Jones into a brave save at his feet.

Despite being under pressure it looked like Penrhyncoch had done enough to nullify the high flying visitors.

The Denbigh bench introduced Warren Duckett in a last ditch attempt to unlock the Penrhyncoch defence and with seven minutes remaining the Roosters were finally broken.

Joel Hewitt’s right wing cross was cushioned down by Duckett and laid off for Partridge to head beyond goalkeeper Lee Jenkins.

Penrhyn could have snatched a late leveller after Elian Evans carved open the Denbigh defence to cross for James who blazed over the bar.
