Guilsfield 2

Denbigh Town 2

ASA Hamilton struck twice only for Guilsfield to be pegged back by a resolute Denbigh Town at Clos Mytton.

An evenly contested and frantic opening half saw neither side craft any clear openings until Andrew Swarbrick was adjudged offside after steering home Matt Worrall’s cross to deny the visitors a 30th minute lead.

The Guils survived another fright on half-time with Worrall’s shot blocked in a packed goalmouth as the Guils hacked clear.

The Guils started the second-half on top with Hamilton’s right wing cross turned onto the upright by Jake Cook from six yards inside the opening three minutes.

Moments later and the Guils led with Hamilton slotting home a penalty awarded after Adam Jenkins was brought down in the area by Dan Sullivan.

Denbigh battled their way back on level terms on 70 minutes with dangerman Worrall latching onto Kristian Pierce’s long ball to lash past goalkeeper Lee Andrew.

Guilsfield restored their lead just two minutes later with Hamilton skipping through the Denbigh area to blast beyond goalkeeper Keighan Jones.

Denbigh piled on the pressure for the remainder of the game and were rewarded with an 82nd minute equaliser with Sullivan blasting home a 25 yard free-kick to ensure a share of the spoils.
