Caersws 0 Airbus UK Broughton 2

CAERSWS remain in the relegation dogfight after falling at home to high flying Airbus UK Broughton.

Despite suffering a 12th defeat of the season the villagers were much improved from their pre-Christmas form and took the game to the Wingmakers early on with Richard Davies and Aron Hughes-Jones leading the line.

Alfons Fosu-Mensah dragged wide for Airbus in the opening five minutes but soon it was Caersws enjoying the early possession.

New signing Richard Davies linked well with Aron Hughes-Jones whose 16th minute shot forced Airbus goalkeeper Dave Roberts into a low save.

The former Berriew striker continued to impress with an energetic display which caused the Airbus defence problems during the first-half.

However it was Airbus who broke the deadlock on 28 minutes with Mensah’s header coming back off the post and deflected into his own net by Lance Jones.

Airbus ended the half strongly with James Hooper testing home goalkeeper David Jones from 30 yards before Ryan Edwards rounded the Bluebirds stopper only for his shot to be blocked on the line by Ryan Davies.

The second-half could not have begun worse for Caersws with Elliot Jones harshly adjudged to impeded Sanago Aboubagar on the by line with Fosu-Mensah converting the resulting spot kick.

Caersws looked to get back in the game with Elliot Jones crossing for Richard Davies whose headed effort was saved by Roberts.

Bluebirds substitute Nefen Savage looked to stretch the visiting defence and set up Davies who once again tested Roberts in the Airbus goal.

Airbus could have added to their tally with 15 minutes remaining with Ryan Davies adjudged to have fouled Hooper in the area only for Jones to save Aboubagar’s penalty.

Caersws continued to toil for the remainder of the match with Richard Davies, Craig Harris and Lance Jones all testing their luck but Roberts continued to comfortably guard the Airbus goal to ensure their three points.
